Large sweeping metaphor aside, what is writing and why do it? Writing is the symbolic representation of information. It is the transcription of intent, the ordering of ideas; therefore it is a very powerful tool. When writing we solidify our raw impressions and ideas, reinforcing and sometimes even redirecting them. You have your lived experience, something unique that only you know, and by writing it you create a representation of it in such a way that you and possibly others can be exposed to and interpret it.

When you think of the right words to express yourself you are intensifying your focus on those thoughts and manifesting the idea more clearly. By physically representing the information you also create the opportunity for your thoughts to be echoed by others which further alters the collective consensus. Your words have power, and when they are on the record their power exponentially increases. Words focus intent, writing preserves it.
