The word psychopath comes from the Greek roots “psyche” meaning the mind or soul and “path” meaning an illness or disease. The term has fallen out of favor and is no longer used in psychiatry, but it lives on in our colloquial discussions and societal archetypes.
So what is it to have a diseased mind? What is it to have a normal one? There are certain traits that we as a society have deemed normal, so outliers from that normal distribution are considered abnormal. However there is no intrinsic normalcy; In the vast and seemingly indifferent cosmos we live in we all do what is normal for us. If there is indeed such a thing as a nature, then we all act within ours and by definition are natural. However if we are truly free wills, wouldn’t one expect a broader variety of behaviors as we fulfill our whims? Whether due to biology or the complexities of living in close proximity to beings of similar intelligence we have a normalizing effect on each other. Certain actions are incentivized and others are taboo. However these “positive” and “negative” behaviors only really apply in the microcosms we have created for ourselves on our rock orbiting the sun.
In a community a lack of empathy can be viewed as a major flaw. However in an ethereal intelligence that has never had contact with another entity it is no handicap, it is not needed. The biological drive for the preservation of your species is almost universally held as a good thing on planet earth. However life as we know it might be an accidental and unwanted byproduct of interactions within some greater power’s creation. To that entity reproductive drive would be a negative as it simply creates a bigger problem that needs to be fixed when discovered. Within infinity, there is a time and place for everything, and all things can peacefully coexist provided they are in the right context.
All this is just to say that you needn’t over worry if you have a sick mind. If you don’t fit into the cookie cutter of societal norms there isn’t anything “wrong” with you per se. So long as you follow these two rules if society does not shift to accept or at least tolerate you then it is really more an indictment of the society than you. First: Do no harm. Second: Do unto others as you would have them do to you. So long as you follow those two to the best of your ability you should be able to integrate most anywhere.
