Zones of Consciousness: A Model

Imagine a three dimensional space. On it are shapes of varying density, all mathematically definable. These shapes can be thought of as awareness, thoughts and ideas. Where they are dense enough they combine into perspectives and things. Your consciousness is a zone of this space, encapsulating your thoughts and experiences. The density of the “matter” in this 3D space can be thought of as intensity of thought, or attention of a perspective. The zone that is “you” is not just you, it overlaps with others through shared experiences, ideas and influences. Though you meet the requirements to have apparent autonomy, I think we can all agree that there are forces at work that are beyond our control. Physics comes to mind, for although we can harness it for our betterment, we seem to be at the mercy of certain immutable laws.

Obviously this is an oversimplified model that can be expanded. Adding a fourth dimension of time allows us to watch the attention of conscious entities translate, scale and redistribute throughout the space. Adding more dimensions allows the system to be interlinked in new and previously unforeseen ways. The key takeaway from this simple model is that there is overlap in our conscious minds that manifest in this model that may help to explain things in our lived reality. Just where does your consciousness detach from the cultural zeitgeist and collective subconscious, or is there even a place in this space that is only and authentically you?
